Art Exhibition on 2-3 Jun 2018 at Domain Mall, Yau Tong. There are three visual arts experiential activities displayed in the exhibition, including acrylic painting, photography and circle painting. By using art as a media, PLHIV discover individual talents during the creative process, confidence was enhanced and a supportive peer network was developed through sharing personal feelings. In addition, we hope that the public will be able to join hand with PLHIV by appreciating their talents and understand their feelings. Together, we build a HIV-free and zero AIDS deaths future.
The Yabu Pushelberg Christmas Tree Auction, hosted by The Upper House, had raised HK130,000 and the full amount had be donated to the Society for AIDS Care (SAC) to support our services to children, adults and elderly people who are living with HIV/AIDS and their care-givers in the community. Our CEO, Ms. Alice Chan (second from the left) and Director, Mr. Christopher Jackson (right of middle), thanked our successful bidders, Mr. Daniel Schuler (second from right) and Mr. Renato Stalder (left of middle), for their kind donation. We also expressed our appreciation to our Director and General Manager of the Upper House, Mr. Marcel Thoma (on the left) and Communications Manager, Ms. Jacqueline Matthews (on the right) as the auction organizer. A Cheque Presentation was held on 10 May at SAC Centre and our representatives have the pleasure to introduce our background and services to our guests.
Our Program Manager, Ms. Ivy Hui; Registered Nurse, Ms. Adeline Lau and Fundraising & Communications Officer, Ms. Lilian Leung have been invited to join the RTHK afternoon live radio program “「精靈一點」” on 6th April, which hosted by Mr. Theo Shum and Ms. Akina Fong. Through the program, we introduced our services, shared the updated HIV/ AIDS epidemic situation in HK and difficulties encountered by people living with HIV/ AIDS (PLHIV). We hope to raise public awareness and eliminate the stigma and discrimination towards PLHIV. A rice dumpling making session is organized at SAC Centre on 6 Jun, to celebrate Tuen Ng Festival. Healthy ingredients were specially used to raise their awareness to health diet, all members were satisfied with their home made rice dumplings.
Four volunteers from Morgan Stanley used their baking skills to help making loads of banana walnut muffins with our members on 1 June. These healthy and mouthwatering muffins are tailor-made for our members with secret recipe. With great team work, our center was filled with joy and the smell of delicious muffins. Volunteers and members tasted their muffins on the day and the rest will be distributed to other members to share love. The muffins were so tasty that they couldn’t stop eating!
Regular volunteer involvements gave chance for our members to make use of their talents and skills to serve the community and as to enhance their self-image. Likewise, under the helping hands of our members, variety of work and center events came to success. In the sharing session, our members shared their experiences and feeling from volunteering. To appreciating their efforts, certificates and gifts were presented to outstanding volunteers in the ceremony.
