Rethink. Rebuild. Rise: Walking Together Towards Zero AIDS
United to End AIDS and Discrimination

1 June 2026

The Society for AIDS Care (SAC) proudly announces the successful completion of the AIDS Walk 2026 and the official launch of AIDS Walk 2027. With the theme of “Say No to Discrimination!”, the annual charity walk continues to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, foster engagement in prevention efforts, and advocate for individuals to undergo HIV testing, understand their status, and access essential care and treatment. Embracing a virtual format to allow flexibility and personal choices, the walk remains a beacon of unity and resilience. Throughout the campaign, participants appealed to all sectors of society to recognize that people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) deserve proper treatment without fear of discrimination or rejection due to their HIV status. Rethink. Rebuild. Rise. — this global call now guides the AIDS Walk 2027, inspiring communities to break down barriers, reduce stigma, and rise together towards zero AIDS.

To continue the success of the virtual format, AIDS Walk 2027 will once again empower participants with the freedom to walk anywhere, anytime — whether in their own neighborhoods, on scenic trails, or even with friends and pets. This year, the walk is more flexible than ever: participants can begin their journey immediately and complete their routes at their own pace before 31 March 2027. By embracing creativity and personal choice, the walk ensures that everyone, everywhere, can take part in this meaningful movement to end AIDS and fight discrimination. Proceeds raised through the walk will support SAC’s programs and services, providing high‑quality direct patient care for PLHIV, including drug supervision, therapeutic counseling, psychological support, physiotherapy, physical training, peer support, public education, and volunteer training.

“We are profoundly grateful for the unwavering commitment of our corporate sponsors, supporting organizations, individual donors, students, and esteemed VIP guests to our AIDS Charity Walk. Over the past two decades, the walk has served as a beacon of unity, inspiring countless individuals worldwide and fostering a culture of understanding and acceptance in the fight against AIDS. Though we may walk separately, our collective efforts make a tangible difference in our shared mission,” said Ms. Alice Chan, CEO of SAC. “I extend my deepest appreciation to our walk sponsors and supporting organizations, including Cassian Lau, Gilead Sciences, Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited, OKAMOTO, Sim’s Sweet, Simple Approach, and SparkRaise. It has been truly heartening to witness participants embracing creativity and innovation to raise funds for our organization during these challenging times, and we look forward to sponsors, donors, and supporters continuing to walk with us as we rise together towards zero AIDS and zero discrimination.”

Ms. Alice Chan continued, “The event attracted a wonderfully diverse group of participants — corporates, families, students, and individuals — each engaging with the walk, in creative ways that best suited their schedules and interests. As we look ahead to AIDS Walk 2027, we sincerely hope our sponsors, donors, and supporters will continue to walk with us — in spirit and in action — so that together we can rise towards zero AIDS and zero discrimination.”

According to Hong Kong’s Department of Health, there were 331 newly reported HIV infections in 2025, bringing the cumulative total since 1984 to 12,734 cases. Nearly 80% of infections were acquired through sexual contact, underscoring the importance of testing and prevention. Most patients under SAC’s care suffer HIV infection were unknowing of its cause at the time. Some of these cases include mother-to-child transmission, spouses infecting each other and tainted blood transfusion. As to encourage the public to participate in HIV testing, we launched a HIV self-testing program using non-invasive oral swab aims to improve the awareness of HIV testing. The advantage for it be performed at a private place at any time. Through this program, we hope to promote the importance of early testing, early treatment..
